BIOGRAPHY

Hi, I’m Rick Brix. I am a professional musician. I was born on September 4th, 1970 in Golden Valley, MN. I grew up an only child in Robbinsdale, MN. When I was 15 my parents and I moved to Eden Prairie, MN, where I went to high school and graduated in 1989. I went to college at the University of St Thomas in St Paul, MN, where I majored in International Studies with a minor in History and graduated cum laude in 1994. I moved to St Cloud, MN, in 1995. I met my wife Angie in 2003 and we were married on September 25th, 2004. Angie had three children from her previous marriage: Christine, Maressa, and Tyler. On March 9, 2006, our daughter Julia was born. We currently live in a big old brick (Brix) house (built in 1885) in St Cloud, MN. I never established a career in my field of study. I’ve decided that I want to pursue a career doing what I love: playing music. I have been playing music since 1983, when I got my first guitar, a Yamaha acoustic. On my 16th birthday in 1986, I got my first electric guitar, a Fender Squier Bullet. I took lessons for a few years from Adam Granger at the Homestead Pickin’ Parlor. I have been playing now for over 30 years. I am a one-man band. I play mostly classic rock (1960s to 1990s), old-time rock n roll (1950s), with a bit of blues, folk, and country.
